Job Title: LDP Inspector

Reports to: Machine Shop Shift Supervisor

Department: Inspection

Location: Marinette, Wisconsin

Status: Full Time

Classification: Non-Exempt

General Summary:

Works with Inspection Supervisor to ensure parts are inspected in accordance with the liquid dye penetrant process for defects and ensures that parts are forwarded to the subsequent operations in a timely manner after passing the inspection in order to meet shipping requirements.

Essential Job Functions Include:

  • Follow oral and written instructions to meet customer requirements.

  • Produce and comprehend a daily production schedule.

  • Check and maintain process equipment.

  • Calibrate equipment

  • Filling out necessary documentation to complete procedure.

Secondary Job Functions:

  • Maintenance of supplies and equipment used in area including general housekeeping.

  • Knowledge of inspection process to be sure all operations are in compliance with quality control standards.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must have excellent time management skills, problem-solving skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks.

  • Good computer skills

  • MUST possess good communication and interpersonal skills - ability to work in close proximity to other individuals.

  • Ability to adapt to changing requirements with little interruption of normal work flow.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required.

  • MUST be capable of meeting the certification requirements.

  • Must get along with others.


Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to actively move through work space.

  • Must be tested yearly to have natural or corrected near distance acuity in at least one eye and must be capable to read Jaeger Number 1 test chart or equivalent distance of not less than 12".  Equivalent eye exam results for Jaeger J-1 visual acuity are: Snellen 20/20; Times Roman 3.5 text; OrthoRater#9; or Titmus (SAB-1, SAL-1 or SAR-1) #10.

  • Must be able to differentiate between colors used.

  • Vision must be correctable to allow reading/viewing of documents, computer screen, and part defects.

  • Hearing must be correctable to allow understanding of instructions given.

  • Mobility and coordination must allow for approrate tasks to be performed.

  • Ability to lift 60 pound box from floor to maximum height of 36 inches.

  • Physical (maximum % of time): 100% - Sitting, vision (near and far), depth perception.  50% - lifting/lowering 1-60+ lbs., standing, walking, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, lifting/twisting, peripheral vision.  20%-talking and hearing.

  • Psychological (% of time): 10%-reading, mental stress, working with others.


Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of a high school education.

  • High school math skills in geometry and some trigonometry.
