General Summary:

Provides support within the Product Engineering department to design and produce CAD models and prints. The Design Engineer will assist within the engineering teams to provide design support, maintain CAD models and prints, assist with engineering problem solving activities and complete projects as required.

Essential Job Functions Include:

  • Complete 3D models and 2D print design concepts and customer supplied designs utilizing CAD software.

  • Maintain and support change documentation for 3D models and 2D prints.

  • Support the launch of new parts, products, and processes.

  • Assist manufacturing in machine shop lathe tooling and cycle time performance – test and implement increased performance and/or lower cost perishable tooling.

  • Provide manufacturing solutions and improvements for new and conventional product.

  • Assist engineering and sales in investigations of new products with respect to the manufacture and implementation of equipment.

  • Determine the most effective ways to use the basic factors of production (people, machines, materials, information, and energy) to make products.

  • Recommend methods for improving safety, worker productivity and reduce waste of materials and utilities.

Secondary Job Functions:

  • Assist engineering in developing improved working environments for improved efficiency and reduction of injuries.

  • Aid with preparation and manufacture of conventional product.

  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:​​

  • Requires 3D modeling and 2D print making skills utilizing CAD software, SolidWorks preferred.

  • Analytical skills in critical dimensioning and GD&T.

  • Must have good communication skills, verbal and written.

  • Use computer software or TCM Modules including Word, EXCEL, Design CAD, Outlook, and TCM.

  • Must have excellent time management skills, problem-solving and prioritization skills, and the ability to multitask.

  • Requires good mechanical and math aptitude.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required.

  • Must have the ability to function effectively without constant supervision.

  • Must get along with others to collaborate and brainstorm ideas.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to actively move through office space to work with staff.

  • Vision must be correctable to allow reading/viewing of documents and computer screen.

  • Hearing must be correctable to allow extensive use of telephone and voicemail as well as participate in discussions among large groups.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in design.

  • Associates or Bachelor of Science in Engineering and or equivalent experience will be considered.
